COVID-19

UPDATE - 24th March 2021

It is confirmed that shooting will resume at our outdoor venue (Bob's meadow) from the 29th March 2021, social distancing rules will still apply and booking will remain necessary.

Headlines for shooting:-

  • Booked Slots only

  • Adults can Shoot any time (including under rule 301 - at the Archers own risk)

  • Juniors must have Parent/Guardian and Experinced DAC Archer Present (could be same person)

  • Rule of 6 does not apply with taking place in Organised Sport (that includes archery), however it does apply when not shooting, so don't gather in large groups to have a chat behind the line.

  • Only Active Shooters or people running the session (Parents supervising under 18s included) may be on the field

  • Bring everything you need to shoot with you (Bow, Hand Gel, Gloves, Drink Snack)

  • Social Distancing of 2M when possible, Face coverings when not possible.

  • Each Target will be placed on tramline 4M from next target

  • Each Target can be shared by 2 people (Shooting Details) or one Household / Bubble

  • Only touch own equipment, pull own arrows

  • Gloves must be worn if placing hands on the target-face to pull arrows

              Competitions

Internal Club Competitions are allowed (please shoot postal), take this time to get your classification scores up to Bowman

Region Competitions will follow in a few weeks, then National some time later in the year.

UPDATE - 22nd February 2021

The whole of the England remains in lockdown, with Sports Clubs Closed, however outdoor sport will resume from the 29th March 2021. At the moment the full ArcheryGB Guidance is not known,

UPDATE - 4th January 2021

The whole of England has entered a lockdown that does not permit sporting venue (inc. Archery Ranges) to open. therefore all Archery is Canceled until at least 18th Feb 2021. Stay at Home, Stay Safe and Protect yourselves and the NHS.

UPDATE - 26th December 2020

Suffolk will enter Tier 4 (Stay at Home) on the 26th December 2020, meaning that all indoor archery is canceled, outdoor can still continue, as part of your daily exercise, as long as it is a booked lane/slot and you shoot within the rules.

UPDATE - 3rd December 2020

As England Emerges from the most recent lockdown (Month of November 2020) Archery is now permittied again in all Lockdown Tiers, both indoor and outdoors. Suffolk is within Tier 2 (High Alert) which means is more important than ever that the guideline and rules are followed to ensure Covid-19 safe shooting. All people shooting must book a lane/slot.

UPDATE - 4th November 2020

It is with sadness that we would like to inform you, that all shooting has been suspended as of 11:59 on 4th Nov 2020 indoors and outdoors, for the governerment enforced lockdown month in England.

 We are doing this in line with the rules from Archery GB and the government, also to protect our archers health. This is to reduce all non-essential contact with others.

We hope to return to indoor and outdoor archery after the 2nd December 2020.

Deben Archery Club is returning to shooting, Indoors, under the ArcheryGB Covid Safe Guidelines from 4th October 2020. Any Member wishing to shoot must book a time slot for use of a boss lane (excusively for themselves or thier household)

With ArcheryGB supplying Guidance on shooting while maintain the government's safety rules on outdoor sport, Deben Archery Club are preparing to begin shooting again, as soon as Trinty Park (our Landlord) think it is safe to do so.

It is with sadness that I would like to inform you that our club shoots have been suspended until further notice.

It hasn't been an easy decision, but with COVID-19 virus, it is a necessary one. We are doing this in line with Archery GB and with the government, also to protect our archers health. This is to reduce all non-essential contact with others.

We will be keeping an eye on the situation like every organisation. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to answer your questions.

Welcome to the Deben Archery Club web site, from these pages you will be able to find out information about us.

We are an ArcheryGB affiliated Archery Club located in Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom that has been shooting for over 60 years.

The club currently has archers shooting Recurve FreeStyle and Barebow, Compound and Longbows. Due to the nature of our shooting venue we don't currently cater for Flight or Crossbow shooting.

If you are new or returning to archery the club has a full set of equipment available for members to borrow. We're a friendly bunch and all club members are willing to provide you with information on the latest equipment and advice if you do decide to take this sport this sport further.

Archery is an inclusive sport where young and old alike can learn together, shoot together and compete against each other in club competitions, local tournaments and on the world stage.

As well as Archers training, tuning and practicing for competitions, we have casual archers who are on the field more for the air and the light exercise than to set the world alight with record scores, all are welcomes and catered for.

The Club has ready for members use a Field with 300+ days access, Olympic-Style Targets, Clout Targets, 3D Animal Targets
